Top 10 Life Hacks for Busy Moms

When you are a mom, it’d always seem like you can never have enough time on your hands! Today, we list out 10 life hacks to help our LeJourney moms save up some me-time.

1. Prepare The Night Before

Get as many things ready as possible the night before. Make sure clothes to be worn the next day are prepared, the coffee pot is set, the kitchen and dining room are relatively tidy. Waking up to a sticky table or a sink full of dirty dishes from the night before could start your day on the wrong foot.

3. Make Enough For Two Meals

You’d probably either love or hate this mealtime hack — leftovers! Some moms suggest preparing the next day’s lunch when cooking for tonight’s dinner. For working moms who feel that traveling out of the office to have lunch or prepping it every morning can be a hassle, pre-cooking the next day’s lunch during dinner may be the way to go.

4. Carry a portable charger

When you are so busy taking care of everyone else around you, you may forget that your phone is running out of juice. It’d be a disaster to leave for an appointment only to find that you have 5% battery left on your device (first-world problems)! Keeping a portable phone charger in your purse will definitely save you from getting a mini heart attack.

5. Keep a Family Calendar

Keeping a family calendar allows you to look the week ahead and be clear of what are the tasks to be done and by when. No rushing and no panicking. Let’s be moms who will always show up on time and are well prepared for any event.

6. Set up a Command Center for your children’s belongings

Get your kids’ stuff organised and properly stored at their designated positions so you don’t have to frantically search for missing items when rushing to send them off to school! Whereas, a command center will not be helpful if it does not appear in the right position. So, the closer you can get to your command center the better, which could be right inside the garage door or in the kitchen.

7. Freshen up your hair by spritzing your hairbrush with perfume

Who admits it’s takes way too much time to shampoo, condition, blow dry your hair.. it’s as if mothers don’t already have enough things to do in a day. If your hair isn’t to the stage where you need to wash it or apply dry shampoo, but you’d still like it to smell pleasant, spray your favorite perfume onto a brush and then run it through your hair. Voila! Nice smelling hair in less than a minute!

8. Stick To A Schedule

According to The Bump, it is important to put your child to sleep at the same time each night. When you do so, your little one will begin to learn the routine and will also start to predict and anticipate what is next. Children thrive on this kind of familiarity, and it plays a vital role in building up their inner security! More importantly, it will make your own life more flexible, as once a schedule or a habit is established, it is going to be much easier for you to manage your time and work.

9. Getting Your Kids on Board

The Washington Times indicated that house chores are best to cultivate a child’s empathy and responsibility, so try it with your child! At the same time, it’ll also boost productivity as you now have a little helper. It might be an extra work for you at the beginning to teach them, but it’ll finally relieve your burden as it decreases your workload.

10. Give Yourself A Break

As a working mom, there would be moments when you feel like everyone else is thriving, while you are barely surviving. Sometimes kids get sick, you encounter a raining day without an umbrella, or you just feel like nobody understands you, it’s all part of the process. Therefore, it is important to give yourself a little more understanding and  have a break when you feel that there’s just too much on your plate. Take a step back, breathe, and move forward again.

You can try doing something you enjoy – read a book, watch a movie or even indulge in some retail therapy! As the saying goes, “happy mother, happy child”, being a joyful mum also means that less stress and tension will be passed through to your child while you interact with them.
